50% is difficult these days! I too started with a company that only gave 50% but I found that at the end of the day that didnt work out for me. I was a better manager of my money than the company. Most of the successful agencies in Miami Beach have realized that it helps the company to provide training for the agents because when they succeed the company succeeds. Our company has one training session a week because there are always new topics and needs arising. Most companies offer a more competitive commission and many other services that will attract a career minded professional. Also our Realtor Board is proactive in the training/education area and offers a wide variety of courses that are taught by local and national professionals. In the end it is all about you being proud to work for your company and enjoying the experience.

I am a "newer" agent, I got my license in March 2006, and took my time searching for the right company in my area to work for. I am so glad that I did that, because I really feel like I got the best fit for me. I did not come from a background of real estate. I got my degree in education, and both of my parents were teachers. After teaching for a few years, I decided that it was the right time for me to reach for this dream I had to go into real estate. The company I chose provided a month's worth of training classes that really provided the tools I needed to succeed. Not only that, but we do not have desk fees, copying fees, and most of our advertising is free or partially paid for by the company. I current;y only get to keep 50% of the commission, but I feel that it is better to get less than to be paying out at every turn.
